Yaa Asantewaa was a Queen Mother of the Ashanti Empire and ‘Protector of the Golden Stool’. She was born on the 17th October 1840 in Southern Ghana.

Yaa Asantewaa led the Ashanti into their final battle against the British in 1900. This was known as the War of the Golden Stool.
