A significant part of this book focuses on the African resistance, in particular during the centuries of slavery.
The African resistance is something that has been deliberately played down by historians throughout history. History books, as a result have always placed on due prominence on the works of those abolitionists, predominantly Europeans, who campaigned for abolition and emancipation. In favour of the ones telling their version.
This is an unfair statement at the expense of the continuous resistance, revolts and retaliation by enslaved Africans themselves. Also, Africans themselves have played a significant role in the abolitionist movement and these key and missing parts in the story are revealed in this book.
